Our file compression and decompression tests were split into two halves to cover a broad spectrum of performance. The first test we ran was to compress and encrypt a 176MB MPEG-2 source file with the highest quality compression ratio. Secondly, we compressed and encrypted the folder of 400 photographs with the same compression settings.



Unfortunately compression testing doesn't follow the same trend, with the DFI suffering quite significantly here as it drops behind by several seconds in both large and small file compression. Even the MSI P35 Diamond and XFX nForce 780i SLI are several seconds faster in the large file compression test.

File Decompression & Decryption:

The two RAR archives created during the compression and encryption tests were then decompressed and decrypted.



Decompression testing is much the same, and while a smaller margin the DFI sits at the bottom here as well.
